Lake Taupo is located in the North Island of New Zealand. The Lake is 616 square kilometres, that's about the same size as Singapore! Water activities take place in the lake all year round, including water-skiing, parasailing, jet skiing, fishing, cruising, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, and landing in it by float-plane! There are 47 rivers and streams feeding into Lake Taupo, and just one outlet—the Waikato River, New Zealand's longest river.
Let's compare Lake Taupo with Lake Biwa which is the biggest lake in japan.
Lake Taupo was created by a volcanic eruption. Almost everywhere you look there are volcanoes. The volcanoes of the Taupo Volcanic Zone created our environment.
Lake Taupo and the Tongariro National Park offers many rewarding and memorable visitor attractions for you to choose from. The Lake offers plenty of fun activities - swimming, fishing and boat cruises. Another recommended attraction is to Kayak or boat to the Maori Rock Carvings at Mine Bay. Standing 10 metres tall and only accessible by boat, the carvings are trully impressive and a great way to enjoy a sunny day on the Lake.
I'm sure you'll have fun!
